Innocence In Her Wings

She sits upon the sand
The little girl in me
Reflecting back on
How life used to be.

Barefoot in the sand
Ocean foam on her toes
Feeling the ocean spray
As it tickles her nose.

Endless dreams of youth
Innocence in her wings
Dancing in the wind
While the ocean sings.

Looking for seashells
Upon a sandy shore
Each one a treasure
Each one she adores.

She sits upon the sand
The woman now in me
Looks ahead with hope
While sitting by the sea.

That is so beautiful!
Have you looked at the "Where I Am From" on my sidebar? I would love to read one written by you, if you ever have the time.

Lori, thank you for visiting my blog but even more thanks because it was a link to yours! What a beautiful blog you have!

The poem is so beautiful and looking at the little girl on the beach brought back such sweet memories of my daughter. Oh, how she loved the beach! She had a huge bowl of sand dollars that she had collected over the years from combing the beach. I called her my "beautiful rose."
She passed away four years ago but in my heart she is very near.

Much love across the ocean,

Hi Mary~~
Thank you for stopping by and for your kind words, Isn't the ocean such a place of healing, I go there often when I just need to be alone with the Lord. I'm blessed to hear it also brings back special memories of your dear sweet Rose. Just think of the joy she had when searching for her treaures of sand dollars upon the sand. Hugz Lorie
