Be Still

Be still, and know that I am God." Psalm 42:10

It's in...
Pursuing
Passion
Prayer
We seek him

It’s in ...
Stillness
Quietness
Listening
We hear him.

It’s in ..
Resting
Waiting
Abiding
We find strength

It’s in…
His faithfulness
His promises
His trust
We have hope.

Well, I sat down last evening for my first quiet time session. It lasted about five minutes. I found it very difficult to stop myself from thinking about other things and keep my focus on just the Lord. But is was good, refreshing, peaceful through and through.

I followed my time of silence with reading God's word intermixed with prayerful utterances as I fell led.

It is amazing the things God reveals when we take the time to listen for His whisper!

Hi Lorie! Happy New Year friend! Thank you for the reminder to be still and know that He is God. I love the song "Be still and Know." Evan and I had this song sung during the unity candle at our wedding over five years ago. I may have to post this youtube video on my blog soon!

Thank you also for the songs that you have playing on your playlist. I just spent some time worshipping!!! Hope you have a great day!

Love,
Nicole

Oh how I've missed your poetical devotions. Thats what they are to me anyway. I was away from my computer a lot in Dec and the I guess yours crashed so it has been a while. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and may your new year be blessed.

My parents are in Kauai (sp?) right now... until Sunday. I should send them to your church. :-)

Yes, I need to be still.. even though I am mostly immobile, I am always "busy"... I need to be still more often... That is one of my goals this year... to be with Him more and In Him more...

Lorie,
You are a special person that God is using to help all of us. I need to start spending more quiet time with the Lord. Why is it so hard - I do it one day and then the next day before I know it I'm involved in something else. I want so much to hear that "still small voice" and I know what I have to do to hear it. I really need your prayers. You are a wonderful encourager. When I talk to my friends about the blogging I always have to tell them about you.
Thanks for being my friend in Christ,
Luv u,
AliceE.

Hi Lorie!
Being still before the Lord is something we all need to be reminded to do. It's so easy in the busyness of life to let that slide. Thanks for the great reminders, your posts are so beautiful and timely.
Love, Velvia
P.S. Hurray for your new laptop!!

I read your poem last night and today you put a comment on my blog. Thanks for your encouragement. It's so good to see your face again. I really missed you. I'm doing okay. I got behind yesterday and am trying to catch up today with emails and other things. I've got to just stop and spend some time with God.
I read the devotions I get and posts on bloggers I like to read and a thought goes through my mind that I've done my time with God by reading on here but I know that's not enough. I heard on the 700 Club yesterday that they are posting a devotion each day and at the end of the year you will have read through the entire Bible. I'm going to start with that but then I know I've got to just sit down, be still and listen to what God has to say.
Thanks for your prayers,
AliceE.
PS And I'm praying for you.

I'm digging into hearing God...and first of all is to quiet myself, get still and know that God is my all. I love your photo and your music and your prose. Thank you for this moment of beauty and stillness and yes, peace.
