Forgiveness

And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins. Mark 11:25

Forgiveness is a gift
You give to yourself
You must forgive you
Before anyone else.

Forgiveness like wings
Taking you to flight
Into a place of peace
Making things right.

Forgiveness is a key
To open prison doors
That unlocks the chains
Freedom is yours.

Forgiveness is power
Given back to you
Once bound by fear
Strength now renewed.

Forgiveness is Jesus
His lesson of love
A mighty example
From heaven above.

Tomorrows not promised
Set your soul free
Life is to short
Don’t you agree?

Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. Colossians 3:13

Hi Lorie! Forgiveness really is key. I know that when I forgive those who hurt me it is like a weight lifted off my shoulders. I actually feel different; more clear, more relaxed, more free. As usual your words are right on the mark and ring true. Thank you for sharing them. Hugs.

And it's so important to remember that forgiveness is an ongoing process, for there will be future 'offences' against us in some way. The healing from them comes when we forgive.

Lovely thoughts, Lori.

blessings and hugs,

Hi Lorie,
Thanks for sharing this lovely poem. Thank God for forgiving us of our sins and showing His love to us through our Lord Jesus Christ's dying and redeeming us. Having experienced such great forgiveness and redemption in Christ, I began to realize by and by how important it is to forgive others and to forgive myself. Thanks for sharing. Take care and God bless!

How absolutely beautiful.

It's amazing that often forgiveness is so hard for us as people to give to each other YET it is the foundation of our Christian lives.

The LORD is good!

Love you dear sister.

You are truly blessed with this wonderful gift of poetry. I am always inspired and touched by what you write. Thank you for these words...as forgiveness is the hardest thing for me to do... but holding a grudge makes me bitter and scorn and I just want to be whole, pure and free again. I try to release my past, but it comes back because of my anger and hurt. I will just have to try and give it to the Lord. Thanks Lorie for all your prayers...here's the update...my son came out fine today as he went under for heart surgery. they have cleared him and he's well to go on with his daily life and be able to play soccer again. I know this was a test from God that we need to seek him more often and to trust in him to follow through. have a wonderful and blessed day and weekend!

It takes a lot of work to stay mad at someone doesn't it Lorie? I've been hearing alot about that this past week and your poem couldn't be more perfect. Forgiveness and not being easily offended.

Hope you are having a great day!!!
Been thinking of you!

Thank you for drenching me in God's goodness. I just found your site via a friend. I hope you don't mind if I splash around a bit.

Forgiveness, a beautiful topic, a beautiful choice, not a feeling, a choice to walk in obedience and follow in the footsteps of our Lord.

Blessings from Costa Rica,
Sarah Dawn

Sweet one, thanks for splashing me with your sweet words. I came back to read this post again. Actually, your picture was a blessing to my heart and to my friends that are in the process of learning to fly and letting God break the chains that bind them.

Blessings for your day,
Sarah Dawn

PS I will be back to be drenched even more in His goodness.

If I have learned nothing in my 45 years of being on theis earth, I have learned that forgiveness is a gift and I gave it to myself when I forgived my mom and dad for abandoning me and my ex-husband for walking away from our marriage. Forgiving has given me wings and I can't thank my Heavenly Father enough!

You have blessed me with your words of encouragement, and through the sharing of your hearts. Forgiveness is never an easy process, not one we can easily do in our own strength. But with the strength, and power, and help, of our precious Lord, we can do all things.
