Snow In Hawaii

Mele Kalikimaka... Merry Christmas

May I introduce to you Mr & Mrs Santa.

They came to Hawaii for a vacation and they never left.

Here 's Mrs Santa dipping her feet in the fountain.

And her hubby joining her as well.
You can hear then singing this song

Mele Kalikimaka is the thing to say
On a bright Hawaiian Christmas Day.
That's the island greeting that we send to you
From the land where palm trees sway.

Here we know that Christmas will be green and bright
The sun will shine by day and all the stars at night.
Mele Kalikimaka is Hawaii's way
To say a merry Christmas to you.

Snow On Mauna Kea

Mauna Kea in Hawaiian means White Mountain.
Mauna Kea is 14,000 feet high, it's a volcano that last erupted 4,500 years ago. The other volcano near by is called Mauna Loa,in Hawaiian it means long mountain, Mauna Loa is the tallest and largest volcano in the world at 56,000 feet. The last eruption was in 1984, Mauna Kea, and Mauna Loa, are both on the Big Island of Hawaii the youngest and largest island.

This the view of Mauna Kea from below.

Snow on the slopes of the Mauna Kea.

Another View of Mauna Kea

This is the road up to Mauna Kea.

This is the observatory on top of Mauna Kea

Another view of the observatory.

Another view of Mauna Kea in the clouds.

Two people going skiing, not highly recommended.

A view from the Top, looking down.

The road down the mountain.
Families bring their pick up's and load it
with snow to take home. Where else can you
build a snowman in 80 degree weather *Smile.*

Lorie,
Merry Christmas to you! I always love to see what you are up to and I love learning about Hawaii as well. Who knew Santa & Mrs. Clause ditched the north pole for Hawaii? I think that is pretty fun, I knew I liked that jolly guy!
Hope all is well with you, sending lots of hugs & prayers your way too.

The pictures are beautiful. We use to get snow here where I live, really big ones but we hardly ever get a good snow anymore. I miss it.
Good to see your blogging, hope everything is going well.

Sooo Beautiful!! I didn't know there was even one snowflake in Hawaii.

It's hard to watch your child go through all the struggles that wrong choices bring in their life, yet my prayer too,has always been "God,whatever it takes."

The poem you sent me really touched my heart...Thank you.

In His Grace,
Tammy

Oh my - that is just gorgeous. I'd love to come meet you, but I think I'd chose summer time. I'm not much of a cold weather person - even if it is Hawaii. Thank you for your beautiful posts always. Have a delightful December! Love ya sistah.

My daughter was up at the observatory a year ago and couldn't believe how cold. We have been here on Oahu for 7 years and you all know it doesn't ever get cold here.

Lorie, Just checking to see how you are. I haven't heard from you in a while. You are still in my prayers. I'm doing a Christmas blog which should be ready to publish soon. It won't be anything elaborate, I just wanted to do something different. If you don't publish this it's ok.

Absolutely stunning! Snow in Hawaii, never seen that before. Stopping by to say hello. Found you on Blog Around the World. My husband spent a couple of years in Hawaii when he was a child and his Dad was in the Navy. He has such fond memories of the time and the area.

I sure don't ever imagine ya'll getting snow....how odd.
We have gotten some here and there and it has been very exciting after having lived in an area where we never really got any.

Sharron aka Sharrahug said...

Wow Sistah! Just look at that snow! I had no idea it snowed in Hawaii! But since I live in southern Calif. people don't think we get snow either.

Hope & pray all is well with you, Sistah!
